In order to study the relationship between certainty (reliability and fault) and uncertain states in system function state, the characteristic function of space fault tree (SFT) is reconstructed by using connection number. The binary connection number characteristic function is used for the certainty and uncertain states, and the ternary connection number characteristic function is used for the reliable, uncertain and fault states. This paper discusses the feasibility of using set pair analysis to study the system function state. The connection number representations of component fault probability distribution and system fault probability distribution are obtained, and some basic characteristics are studied. The operation of characteristic function can refer to the operation method and rule of ternary connection number in set pair analysis. This paper is based on set pair analysis to study system function state and reconstruct SFT.
