The International Conference on Swarm Intelligence (ICSI¡¯2010) will be held in Beijing, which is the capital of China and is now one of the largest international cities in the world. As the cultural, educational and hightech centre of the nation, Beijing possesses many world-class conference facilities, communication infrastructures, and hotels, and has successfully hosted many important international conferences and events like the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In addition, Beijing has rich culture and historical attractions such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven. The participants of ICSI¡¯2010 can also enjoy Peking operas, beautiful landscapes, and the hospitality of the Chinese people, Chinese cuisine, and a modern China. Swarm Intelligence is to study the collective behavior in a decentralized system which is made up by a population of simple individuals interacting locally with one another and with their environment. Such systems are often be found in nature, including bird flocking, ant colonies, particles in cloud, fish schooling, bacteria foraging, animal herding, honey bees, spiders, and sharks, just to name a few.

Call for Papers and Special Sessions
Prospective authors are invited to contribute high-quality papers to ICSI¡¯2010. In addition, ICSI¡¯2010 Program Committees solicit proposals for special sessions within the technical scopes of the ICSI¡¯2010. Special sessions, to be organized by internationally recognized experts, aim to bring together researchers in special focused topics. Papers submitted for special sessions are to be peer-reviewed with the same criteria used for the regular papers. Researchers interested in organizing special sessions are invited to submit formal proposals to the special sessions chairs of the ICSI¡¯2010. A special session proposal should include the session title, a brief description of the scope and motivation, names, contact information and brief biographical information of the organizer(s).

Interested Topics (including but not limited to)
Particle swarm optimization, ant colony swarms, swarm robotics, cultural algorithms, foraging algorithm, modelling and analysis of biological collective systems such as social insects colonies, school, and flocking vertebrates, genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolutionary programming, evolution strategy, classifier system, differential evolution, estimation of distribution algorithm, co-evolution algorithms, memetic algorithms, artificial immune system, optimization techniques in dynamic, multi-objective, constrained environments, numeric optimization, hybrid optimization methods, data mining, pattern recognition, knowledge discovery, time series analysis, financial market prediction, stock prediction, scheduling and timetabling, telecommunications systems, transportation systems, information security, network intrusion detection, software simulation, 2D or 3D virtual swarms, real-world applications, etc.

Paper Submission
Authors are invited to submit full-length papers (6-10 pages) by the submission deadline through the conference online submission system. Potential special session organizers are also invited to enlist five or more papers with cohesive topics to form special sessions. The submission of a paper implies that the paper is original and unpublished and will be presented by an author if accepted. All submitted papers will be peerreviewed by experts in the field based on the criteria of originality, significance, quality, and clarity. Papers presented at ICSI¡¯2010 will be published in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (EI-indexed) and some high-quality papers will be selected for publications on special issues of International Journal of Swarm Intelligence Research (IJSIR) and several other SCI-indexed journals.
